Juliana Cherera has been appointed as the new vice chairperson of Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The IEBC had been without a chairman since Connie Maina's resignation in 2018. She became the topic of discussion on August 15, 2022, when she led four commissioners to reject presidential results.

Juliana Whonge Cherera was born in Kenya's Mombasa County.
Juliana received a Master of Education in Leadership and Education Management. She also got a Master's degree from Kenya Methodist University and a Bachelor of Education in Arts from Kenyatta University, where she specialized in Kiswahili and Geography.
