Kennedy Wambua Ngunze is the undisputable king of Kamba Bengal Music and his Yatta Orchestra international band. He was born in Machakos county on the 21st of May 1979 in a family of 4 children, 2 of whom have since died. His brother is a priest with pastor D. Lai. He attended Gitakara primary school and then Kangaru high school in Embu county. Ken moved to Nairobi after high school where he took up jobs in the Juakali industry and moved on to sell second hand clothes in Gikomba. He later on Joined the university of Nairobi to study Business management and later on statistics. He later attended st Paul's university, strathmore university, USIU- Africa and a UK university for his undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Ken wa Maria started singing in church. He was a member of his local Catholic Church but later moved to secular music in 2004 specialising in Kamba Benga Music. Some of his hits include; Wakatimba pumbavu, pendo la lazima, Miss Musembi, Mpenzi Cherono, Syindu sya Mutongoi among others. He has produced more than 500 songs. He is accredited for starting the modern day Eastern Benga music in which he has coached more than 40 artists including Kativui of Kyaume Boys band, Alphonse Kioko( Maima) of Kithungo raha among others. Ken believes that education give a person Knowledge and wisdom, as well as confidence to become strategic in decision making which are informed by the goals and long-term vision of the person. Ken has done a deep documented research that has directed what Bengal is today. In this report, he has given advice on how to slow the Kamba music beat making it more friendly, danceable and enjoyable.
