Gladys was raised in a political household. Her father, the late John Nyasuna, was a Kisumu County Councillor and Chairperson. Gladys looked up to him and became interested in politics at a young age. She was the first female to be elected Secretary General of the Kenyatta University Student Union in 2003. She remained politically involved after graduation, participating in ODM party politics while continuing to work at LVCT Health. During her period of duty, she hopes to empower women and youth, as well as educate girls. Gladys championed the founding of the Information and Public Communication Committee in parliament.
