Samuel Imeta has become a much-needed weapon in Kenya's arsenal as the clock approaches the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in 2023 by meeting the qualification mark in 100 meters.
The Kenya Defence Forces athlete is known as "Kifaru," the Swahili word for rhino, an animal that charges angrily at the slightest provocation. After flattening a try-line-bound opponent in a Kenya Cup match, the former rugby player earned the nickname from his coach at Nakuru Rugby Football Club.

Imeta finished second in the final of the men's 100m race in 9.94 seconds behind Commonwealth Games champion over the distance Ferdinand Omanyala at the second Athletics Kenya Track and Field meeting on Saturday at Nyayo National Stadium.
