Dr. SID was born on May 1, 1980, in Lagos State, Nigeria. He grew up in Lagos but has roots in Delta State, part of Nigeria's South-South region. His father, Justus Esiri, was a respected Nollywood actor, and his mother, Omiete Esiri, is a fashion designer. Among four siblings, he's the second child. He attended Nigerian Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja for his secondary education and went on to study dentistry and dental surgery at the University of Ibadan. Even during his school days, he displayed a passion for entertainment, participating in plays, dance competitions, and concerts, earning numerous awards.

Career-wise, Dr. SID's focus has primarily been on music. His desire to become a musician was evident from a young age. In 1999, he signed with Trybe Records as a choreographer and spent three years there as a backup dancer. In 2002, he became part of Da Trybe and played a significant role in the song "OYA," which played a key role in the evolution of Nigerian hip-hop that year. His debut single, "Don’t Stop," released in 2003, topped the MBI charts for eight weeks. However, he took a break from music to complete his university degree.
