Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr., better known by his stage name Shatta Wale (formerly Bandana), is a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician who was born on October 17, 1984, to Charles Mensah Snr. and Mama Elsie.He is best known for his role as "Dancehall King". He won Artiste of the Year at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards. Career

After graduating from high school, Shatta Wale changed his name to "Bandana" and released the hit single "Bandana from Ghana". In 2004, the song was a huge hit in Ghana's music industry.
 

Shatta Wale's unexpected rise to the occasion occurred at the 2013 VGMA awards, when he threw lyrical insults at the VGMA, claiming they robbed him of the Dancehall Artist of the Year award, which went to a female Dancehall artist named "Kaakie". Even though the song had vulgar lyrics, it was highly anticipated by the media, resulting in his musical breakthrough.

Dancehall King surprised the airwaves with his biggest hit song in 2013. Shatta Wale's musical revenue is primarily generated through the hosting of shows that attract thousands of Ghanaian youths.

In 2015, Shatta Wale asked not to be nominated in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, even though he could have won the prestigious Artiste & Song of the year for the second time running with his hit songs Dancehall Commando featuring Sarkodie, Party all night long featuring Jah Vinci,Wine ya waist featuring Davido and Korle Gonno, among many hit songs he released the preceding year: because of an impending court case with the Awards organisers Charter House Production.
