Kenyans were asked to contribute ideas for what they wanted to see included in the new constitution as it was being drafted.
One of the good Kenyans who contributed was Bosco Mulwa, a Kamba's Benga musician best known for his hit song 'Mother'.
Bosco claims that he was the one who proposed that the government abolish all holidays commemorating people and historical events in favor of a single holiday, 'Mashujaa Day', which gave rise to the holiday.
However, the musician claims that he sang about Mashujaa Day ten years before the new constitution.
Prior to the merger of all holidays, Kenyans celebrated Moi and Kenyatta Days, which were combined to create Mashujaa Day, a holiday to honor all of the country's heroes.
Every October 20th, the country celebrates Mashujaa Day.
During an interview with a local TV station, Bosco explained that his motivation for creating one holiday was to ensure that all heroes in the country are recognized while also saving the country's economy, as most businesses would be closed to honor a specific person.
The artist stated that this is his greatest contribution to the country, which he is proud of.
