Kiambu's first governor was a politician from Kenya named William Kabogo Gitau. Kabogo was born on April 4, 1961, in Ruiru.
Prior to enrolling at Punjab University in India, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Bcom) degree, he attended nearby schools.
After graduating, he went back to Kenya and started out as an auditor before starting his own private company. He entered elected politics in 2002 after running for the parliamentary seat of Juja.
Being one of the first Kenyan politicians to employ a helicopter during an election campaign, his extravagant campaigns immediately attracted national notice. Tensive interactions with then-powerful minister John Michuki characterized his first tenure.
